“They wanted it out of those communities, and they had gotten very tough on drugs. “Crack cocaine was a scourge in the Black community,” he recalled. James Clyburn, a member of the House leadership and one of the most powerful African American elected officials, reflected on the reasons for his vote in favor of the bill. Schmoke said, “We’re trying very hard to explain to Congress that this is a matter that needs bipartisan support.” As he joined a delegation of mayors lobbying Congress to back the bill, Baltimore Mayor Kurt L. Most Black mayors, who were grappling with a record wave of violent crime, did so as well. According to a 1994 Gallup survey, 58% of African Americans supported the crime bill, compared to 49% of white Americans. Although Bass reported that she would have opposed the bill if she had been in Congress at the time, she said, “I understand very well why elected officials did what they did, because the masses of the people in these communities were demanding it.” It came up during his vice-presidential selection when Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) chair Karen Bass, who was under consideration as his running-mate, responded with a shrewd history lesson. Since the beginning of his presidential race, however, former Vice President Joe Biden has been asked repeatedly about his role in creating this bill. Moss Building & Design is the top home remodeling company in Northern Virginia that has established a reputation for excellence in remodeling additions, kitchens, bathrooms, and basements and providing home services for homeowners. If that’s the case, you might have to consider having your bathroom remodeled to eradicate the problem. Unfortunately, mold will find a way to grow back. If your home is older and the tiles were not set with the mold-resistant materials, you can attempt to bleach the mold to get rid of it. These days, tiles are set on a mold-resistant backer board to ensure mold cannot grow. Regarding mold, that shouldn’t be an issue unless the grout is really old. You can find instructions for caulking online or by attending one of Moss’s HandyMOM 101 workshops that focuses on caulking. Then, re-caulk with the new, matching caulk.
Once you are sure the area is completely dry, cut out the cracked grout with a razor knife. Do not use the shower for 48 hours before working on the grout cracks. Once you are home, make sure your bathtub/shower is dry. Also, check and see if you need sanded grout caulk instead of regular caulk. If you aren’t sure, purchase the closest color and match it once you are home. The stores should have a chart to assist you. Sometimes matching the grout color can be complicated. Go to a home improvement store (Home Depot, Lowe’s) and buy caulk that matches your grout. This happens a lot, and it can be easy to fix.
What’s the best way to fix this? Do I need to worry if mold is growing behind the tiles?
